  • In private practice since being called to the Bar, practicing with David Landesman (called 1998), James Clark (called 2003), and Adnan Subzwari (called 2018).
  • Clients include individuals, corporations, government officials and institutional bodies.

REPRESENTATION

  • Advice, trials and appeals, civil, regulatory and criminal matters, including commercial disputes, defence to Criminal Code and Controlled Drug charges, tax, customs & excise, international criminal, competition, securities, fraud, and environmental issues and cases, professional discipline, inquests, inquires, boards and tribunals, related civil and other proceedings and applications.

  • Author, lecturer and instructor for legal education programs including the Ontario Bar Admission Course (from 1983-2005), the Canadian Bar Association, the Criminal Lawyers Association, the Federation of Law Societies National Criminal Law Program, and other professional continuing education programs. Judge/advisor in various advocacies – oriented programs including the Advocates Society Institute, and the Moot Court programs at the University of Toronto Law School and Osgoode Hall Law School.

David Landesman

PRACTICE

  • A member of the Criminal Lawyers Association since the 90’s, David represents clients facing criminal, drug, tax, customs, environmental, and other federal and provincial prosecutions – cases such as domestic assault, sexual assault, impaired driving, theft, fraud, weapons, robbery, criminal negligence causing death, trafficking in controlled substances, and other such cases. David handles extradition matters, and recovers client property seized by police as proceeds of crime, crime-related property, or in connection with other governmental seizures. David also appears frequently in youth court, and on appeals. He represents clients before professional regulatory bodies and Coroner’s Inquests.

BACKGROUND

  • David attended the University of Western Ontario completing a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 1992. At Western, David was awarded the Chancellor’s Prize for achieving the highest grade in the Department of Social Science in his graduating year. David completed his law degree at Osgoode Hall Law School in June 1996. He articled with Paul Stern and Arleen Goss in 1996-1997 and has been in practice with Paul Stern since being called to the Ontario Bar in February 1998.

Margot Davis

EDUCATION

  • Somewhat unusually for a lawyer, Margot has a Honours Bachelor of Science with Distinction from the University of Toronto. Margot was called to the bar in June 2018.

PRACTICE

  • Prior to becoming an associate at Stern Landesman Clark LLP, Margot practised at a boutique intellectual property law firm, worked on policy matters with a former Director of the Legal Branch of the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and assisted a forensic accountant in a variety of matters.

PUBLICATIONS

  • Margot Davis has been published in several industry publications, including The Lawyer’s Daily, Without Prejudice, and Canadian Lawyer Magazine. Margot also authored the chapters on the Ontario Land Tribunal and the Condominium Authority Tribunal for Emond’s Tribunal Practice and Procedure, 2nd edition. She is currently co-authoring a book about fraud and money laundering.

PUBLIC SERVICE

  • Aware of her duty to the broader community, Margot has volunteered with Lawyers Feed the Hungry since 2015.
